How We Care for Your Rugs

At Heaven’s Best we are here to help, we want to make the process of having your area rugs cleaned as easy, affordable, and as pleasant as possible. When it comes to your rugs, we take the greatest care. Your area rug will be carefully cleaned, according to the method that is best for your rug type. Area rugs can be damaged if the wrong process is used. Our process does not use any harmful chemicals and is pet and kid friendly. It is non-toxic and safe for the environment. Your area rug can be restored to its vibrant colors and feel! In cleaning your rugs, we make sure to first determine the type of rug you have. This involves examining how the rug was woven together, the glues used to hold the rug together (some rugs do not use a glue to keep the weave together), the fabric type, and the type of dye used for coloring the fabric. This allows us to make sure we use the proper cleaning solutions that will be tough on the dirt but not on your rug.

Types of Rugs

There are many types of rugs, as well as materials that are used to make them. Rugs can be made from natural materials-such as wool, synthetic materials-like acrylic fibers, or a combination of the two. The same applies to the coloring or dyes used to bring color to a rug. That’s why it’s important to have a professional cleaner come in and examine the area rug to determine the best cleaning process. Area rugs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but the more expensive types of rugs are the Persian and Oriental rugs. The difference between the two is important to note. Oriental rugs are made in countries within Asia, while Persian rugs are made exclusively in Iran. Since a Persian rug is made in Iran, it’s also an Oriental rug. This means that a Persian rug is an Oriental rug, but an Oriental rug might not be a Persian rug. Heaven's Best knows how to determine what type of rug you have and we know the best way to clean different types of rugs. If you are not sure what type of rug you have, don't worry! Just give Heaven's Best a Call at (205) 739-1880 and we can help what type of rug you have and the best method to clean it.

Here is how we Clean Wool/Oriental Rugs:

After we pick up your Rugs, we bring them back to our Brand New State-of-the-Art Rug Cleaning Plant with all new Rug Cleaning Equipment. Our Cleaning Process involves multiple steps and is the most thorough cleaning you can get on your Area Rugs. It is called a Full Immersion Rug Cleaning because we totally immerse the rugs in cleaning solution and water. It is similar to washing your clothes, but on a much larger level. In order to do this type of process, you need heavy duty equipment which is not cheap. After we started our Heaven’s Best Carpet Cleaning business in 2012, we realized how much our customers needed this type of area rug cleaning. And because you need a large space to clean area rugs as well as expensive equipment, we have not been able to provide this service until now.  At the beginning of 2020, Heaven’s Best purchased a location and all the equipment necessary to start cleaning area rugs, including oriental rugs, large area rugs, wool rugs, silk rugs, polyester rugs, -dirty rugs and even rugs full of pet urine.

We have a lot of pet loving customers who are just like us. We love our pets, but we don’t like the messes they make. One of their favorite places are our beloved area rugs. They love to sit, roll and play on them. And, the worst part is they like to pee on them.  Getting dog or cat urine out of expensive wool area rugs is not easy if you don’t have a Rug Cleaning Plant and good equipment.  And, helping out our customers keep their homes and offices clean and safe has become our mission. In that endeavor, here is how we clean area rugs. You won’t find another company in Birmingham, AL that provides this type of Area Rug Cleaning. It is the most THOROUGH CLEANING you can get in Birmingham, AL, as well as State of Alabama.

  1. Rug Inspection – After picking up your rugs, we do a thorough inspection of them which includes measuring the rug, confirming the fabric type, checking for dye bleed, any fiber damage, fringe or cord damage and any major spots or stains.
  2. Documentation – We take photos of the rugs and we document all the information we obtain in our Rug Inspection.
  3. Dusting & Tumbling – After the thorough inspection, we start the cleaning process by getting all the dry dirt out of your rug.  And, you would be surprised how much dirt is in your rug. We have several pieces of equipment for this purpose. We have a Rug Duster and a Rug Tumbler. We place the Area rug on a galvanized steel Rug Grid and run the Rug Duster across the rug. The Rug Duster beats the dirt out of the rug while the Rug Grid keeps the rug up off the floor so all the dirt is pushed down below the rug. Another method we use to get out dry dirt is our Automated Rug Tumbler. This is a very large stainless steel machine that can hold 5 to 10 rugs at a time. It is like a large clothes dryer. It tumbles the rugs much like your dryer, but also has a vacuum which sucks out the dirt.
  4. Wash Pit – After all the dry dirt has been removed from your rug, we move it over to our Rug Washing Pit. This is a large trough which is lined with heavy duty plastic and a pump system to fill and drain the trough with water. Once in the pit, we prepare the rug for cleaning. Often we have to apply solutions to prevent bleeding or crocking of the dyes in the rug prior to cleaning. We also will spot treat any spots or stains. Once the rug is ready to wash, we immerse the rug in cleaning solution and water.
  5. Scrubbing the Rug – After we apply the rug cleaning solutions, we scrub the rug with a rug cleaning machine called the Cymex. This is a machine with rotating brushes. The brushes are gentle enough to use on most rugs, but strong enough to release dirt and grime. We scrub the rug on both sides with the Cymex.
  6. Rinsing the Rug – After we have thoroughly washed the rug, we rinse the rug of all the cleaning products. We immerse the rug in clear water and drain the wash pit. We do this multiple times until the water runs clear and your rug is totally clean.
  7. Water Removal – The next step is to remove as much water is possible from the rug, so it can dry quickly. If rugs are not dried they can start to grow mold and mildew. It is extremely important to get the rugs rung out and dried as soon as possible. Our rug plant has a hoist system which helps us move the wet rug out of the rug pit and into the Centrifuge. The Centrifuge is a huge cylinder machine that spins the rug much like your washing machine to get the water out. The Centrifuge also rinses the rug again and spins it up to 1400 rpms for maximum rinse and water removal.
  8. Hanging to Dry – After the Centrifuge has spun as much water out of the rug as possible, we use our rug hoist to remove the rug from the Centrifuge and place it on a cart to wheel over to our Power Drying Tower. This is another automated piece of equipment with a winch and pulley system used to automatically raise the wet rugs for drying. Once the rugs are hung on the Rug Tower, fans are placed around them to help them dry quicker.
  9. Grooming – The rug is tested with a moisture meter to confirm it is dry. Once we have confirmed the rug is dry, it is removed from the Drying Tower and brought back over to the Rug Grid where it gets its final grooming and inspection. We inspect the rug and vacuum it again. If the rug needs fluffing, we will place it back in the Rug Tumbler to fluff. If you would like Rug protection applied to your rug, we will apply it at this time and allow it to dry on the rug grid before rolling up. If the rug is still dirty, we will put it back in the rug pit and clean it again. Once we confirm the rug is ready for delivery, we take the Final Photos of the Rug and roll it up to be delivered back to you.
  10. Delivery – We normally schedule our rug deliveries between 3-5pm on weekdays and around 12noon-2pm on Saturdays. When our technicians arrive with your rug, inform them where you would like it placed. They will move furniture if needed and place your rug back exactly where you want it.
