Step 1 – This is the most important step. As soon as you are aware of the stain, blot up as much of the stain with a clean dry towel or paper towels as quickly as possible. Press firmly on the stain to absorb the liquid, but do not rub.
Step 2 – After absorbing as much of the liquid as possible, try applying one of the following 3 solutions.
METHOD 1 – LEMON JUICE: If you have a bottle of lemon juice in your frig, apply a generous amount to the stain. If you have an actual lemon, squeeze the lemon juice directly onto the stain. Then, just blot the stain until it is gone. Lemon juice neutralizes grape juice.
METHOD 2 – CLUB SODA: Pour club soda directly onto the stain. The carbon in club soda can remove a variety of stains from carpets, and it’s especially effective on Grape Juice. Apply a significant amount to the carpet. Using a clean towel to soak up the club soda, and the stain should come right out with it.
METHOD 3 – DISH SOAP: We recommend using a high-quality dish detergent on this step, as many of the cheaper soaps are not as concentrated. Mix one tablespoon detergent with two cups warm water. Apply a generous amount to the stain and blot until the stain is removed. Some scrubbing may be necessary, but restrain from this until the majority of the stain has been removed. (CAUTION: Do not pour dish soap directly onto the stain. You may stain the carpet even worse.)
